Two players on the Los Angeles Lakers have tested positive for COVID-19, commonly known as the coronavirus, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The Lakers put players on 14-day quarantine Tuesday and had them undergo testing for COVID-19. The results came back on Thursday, which determined that two players have the coronavirus. The team announced that both players didn’t display any symptoms of the virus.
The Philadelphia 76ers announced on Thursday that three members of their organization tested positive for the coronavirus. The news came just days after the Brooklyn Nets announced four players, including Kevin Durant, also tested positive for COVID-19.
More than a dozen NBA players and personnel have tested positive for the virus. The NBA suspended its season on March 11 after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert became the first player to test positive for the coronavirus.
New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said he tested positive for COVID-19. Payton is the first person in the NFL to test positive for the virus.
According to Johns Hopkins University, there are more than 11,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the United States.
