The Milwaukee Brewers surprised pretty much everyone by deciding to non-tender former All-Star second baseman Jonathan Schoop mere months after acquiring him in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles.
Schoop, 27, didn’t last too long on the free agent market. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Minnesota Twins are signing the veteran to a one-year deal with north of $7 million.

Schoop struggled after being acquired from Baltimore midseason, hitting a mere .202 in 46 games. He earned an All-Star appearance with the Orioles back in 2017. That season saw Schoop hit a robust .293 with 32 homers and 105 RBI.
He will replace longtime Twins second baseman Brian Dozier in that role moving forward. Dozier was shipped off to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a trade this past July and remains a free agent.
