Report: Terrelle Pryor Switching from Quarterback to Wide Receiver

According to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, Terrelle Pryor is attempting to switch positions from quarterback to wide receiver. The news came just hours after Pryor was waived by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Rosenhaus reports that there is a ton of interest in Pryor as a wide receiver. Pryor started nine games at quarterback for the Oakland Raiders in 2013, passing for 1,798 yards, seven touchdowns and 11 interceptions. After not having much success at the starting position that year, Pryor discussed his hesitance in changing positions:

“I don’t know how to catch,” Pryor said last June after signing with the Seahawks. “I’ve been a quarterback my whole life.”

Pryor has primarily been a backup during his four-year NFL career. After his three seasons with the Raiders, Pryor then spent the 2014 season as a backup to Russell Wilson with the Seattle Seahawks. After being released by the Seahawks, Pryor was briefly on the Bengals roster prior to being let go on Thursday.

Now it is time for Pryor to figure out how to catch. With his massive 6-foot-6 frame, he could actually do some damage at receiver. Though, it’s unrealistic to expect any type of production in the near future. Players train their entire lives to be able to play receiver in the NFL. Pryor can’t expect to learn that position in time to make an impact this upcoming season.
