Report: Spencer Hawes Meets with the Golden State Warriors

Free agent center Spencer Hawes reportedly met with Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers in Los Angeles. The Warriors, who have Andrew Bogut on the roster, are likely looking to find a more durable option to team up with the Australian big man.

Hawes averaged 13.2 points and 8.3 rebounds with the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers last season. It was by far his best season since the Sacramento Kings made him the 10th overall pick back in 2007.

While Bogut has been a stud for the Warriors in two seasons, he has missed 65 of a possible 164 regular season games during that span. It makes perfect sense for the Warriors to kick the tires on Hawes.

The big man is also going to visit with Los Angeles Clippers head honcho Doc Rivers in Los Angeles. He would act as a backup to both DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin for the talented Southern California team. These two California rivals, who met in the playoffs this past season, could very well find themselves in a battle for an important role player.
