Toronto Raptors forward Scottie Barnes will undergo an MRI to further evaluate a right foot/ankle injury, NBC Sports reported.
Barnes, 21, was hurt while driving to the basket in the second quarter of Saturday’s 112-109 road loss to the Miami Heat. He did not return after missing a free throw following the injury and had X-rays which came back negative.
After playing just 13 minutes Saturday, Barnes has averaged 14.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in three games this season. The second-year player out of Florida State has averaged 15.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 77 games and was named Rookie of the Year last season.
No timetable for Barnes’ return to game action was given, with Toronto head coach Nick Nurse saying, “We’ll just see.”
The Raptors are not scheduled to play Sunday, with a rematch against the Heat set for Monday at Miami.
