Report: Khalil Mack expecting $65 million guaranteed on new deal

Khalil Mack already has the look of a Hall of Famer

Set to play out the final year of his rookie contract, Oakland Raiders All-Pro linebacker, Khalil Mack wants a new deal. According to NFL Network’s Steve Wyche, Mack  expects to receive $65 million guaranteed in his new contract.

Mack is currently holding out of the Raiders voluntary wotkouts as a way to impose a bit of leverage with the team. The Raiders picked up his fifth-year option, which means Mack is on course to earn $13.8 million if no new contract is agreed upon.

He has been nothing short of spectacular in his four seasons. Drafted fifth-overall in 2014, Mack has played in all 64 games, while running up a total of 40.5 sacks, 303 combined tackles, one interception, one touchdown and four fumble recoveries.

He has also earned All-Pro honors twice, made three Pro-Bowl selections and was named the 2016 AP Defensive Player of the Year. For this we can understand why he feels such a large chunk of guaranteed money is necessary.

But, $65 million is a huge dollar figure. At the position, Denver Broncos outside linebacker, Von Miller currently has the most guaranteed money ($42 million) in his contract.

Mack’s contract situation will be one to follow as the the months progress towards training camp.
