According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Dallas Cowboys’ running back Joseph Randle is expected to start against the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football.
Head coach Jason Garrett has been evasive thus far about naming a starting running back for the Cowboys, standing by the claim that the team would use a combination of backs this season. Randle has been competing with veteran Darren McFadden for the lead and both received first-team work over training camp.
It would be a major stretch to see Randle put up the amazing numbers that former lead rusher DeMarco Murray posted last season—392 carries, 1,845 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. However, worth noting is that Randle was impressive in his limited attempts last season averaging an impressive 6.7 yards per carry.
That’s something considering McFadden only managed a sluggish 3.4 yards per carry in his last season with the Oakland Raiders.
If anything, perhaps this news helps fantasy football owners who have Randle stashed just in case he assumed the lead role.
