It’s officially ComebackSZN for Johnny Manziel, who announced Wednesday that he’s joining little known The Spring League to get his football career back on track.
Back in Texas where it all started. I'll be joining @TheSpringLeague in Austin to get #ComebackSZN started! Can't wait to get back on the field and show NFL scouts what I can do! #cantwaitforspring pic.twitter.com/zMk5223HCc

Many thought he’d take his talents to the CFL, but when Manziel remained unsigned after the artificial deadline set by his agent that ship moved on without him.
Now we’re learning that Manziel can get out of The Spring League contract he’s signing if an NFL team comes calling. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports Manziel has a clause in his contract in case of this development.
“According to agent Erik Burkhardt, Manziel can exit The Spring League for the NFL if an opportunity arises before it’s time to play in the two-week developmental league.”
This is pretty much a no-brainer for Manziel.
Likely, he’s going to be the biggest name in The Spring League, so just by the simple act of signing up he’s bringing some hype to the league. On the flip side, it would be a shame if he was stuck in The Spring League if an NFL team comes calling, so this is a win-win for both sides.
