Crowell has spent his entire four-year career with the Cleveland Browns. In 2017, he carried the ball 206 times for 853 yards with two touchdowns. He added 28 receptions for 182 yards.
Crowell will replace the retired Matt Forte and join a backfield that includes Bilal Powell, who ran for 772 yards in 2017. The goal with Crowell will be to improve a running game that struggled in 2017. The Jets ranked 19th in total rushing yards and 20th in yards per carry.
Who will hand Crowell the ball remains to be seen. On Tuesday, it was reported that New York was closing in on a deal with Teddy Bridgewater, and that Josh McCown was returning to the Jets, as well.
