Following a disastrous shutout loss to the New England Patriots on Monday night, it appears that the New York Jets are in sell-off mode ahead of next week’s trade deadline.
According to Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News, New York is willing to trade wide receiver Robby Anderson and defensive lineman Leonard Williams for the right price.
The report notes that New York had looked at trading Anderson ahead of last year’s deadline, but the team decided to stand pat. As for Williams, he’s been on the market for some time. The Jets are said to be looking for 2020 NFL Draft capital.
Anderson, 26, is in the final year of his contract. He’s recorded just 17 receptions for 266 yards in six games this season. Anderson tallied a combined 1,693 yards between the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
A top-six pick back in 2015, Williams is playing out the contract option on his rookie deal. He, too, is slated to become a free agent. The former Pro Bowler has recorded 16 tackles and five passes defended on the season.
New York heads into Week 8 with a 1-5 record and is going nowhere fast this season.
