Free agent running back Jamaal Charles is reportedly set to take a visit with the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Charles played sparingly for the Denver Broncos last season following his release from the Kansas City Chiefs last offseason. Appearing in 14 games, Charles gained 425 yards and one touchdown from scrimmage on 82 total touches.
That the Saints are bringing Charles in is rather interesting, given the fact that Adrian Peterson has made it crystal clear he’d love to rejoin the team in the wake of Mark Ingram’s four-game suspension for PEDs.
It’s debatable whether Charles has more to offer than Peterson, though at least his diverse skill set would be more useful to the Saints, if he’s healthy.
