Report: Jaguars to place LB Myles Jack (knee) on injured reserve

The Jacksonville Jaguars plan to put star linebacker Myles Jack on injured reserve on Thursday, ending his 2019 season that has been slowed by injuries.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Jack will land on IR with a season-ending knee injury that initially kept him out in Week 13.

Jack, who became the NFL’s third-highest paid inside linebacker this offseason, will miss the remainder of the year after playing in 11 games this season. The 24-year-old racked up 66 total tackles with four pass deflections and one interception.

The absence of the athletic inside linebacker will be felt in Week 14 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Running back Austin Ekeler is one of the best receiving backs in the NFL and could find more open space with Jack sidelined.

Sitting at 4-8 on the season and four games back of the Houston Texans in the AFC South, Jacksonville’s hopes of contending this year are now essentially gone.
