After starting in only one game for the Indianapolis Colts in 2015, the team decided to release backup quarterback Josh Freeman on Monday.

This news comes just a few days after the team parted ways with Matt Hasselbeck, who spent three seasons as a backup to Andrew Luck. Besides Charlie Whitehurst, who is set to become a free agent, the Colts have only Stephen Morris left on the roster.
Perhaps the releases of Freeman and Hasselbeck are to made room for more enticing backup options now that guys like Robert Griffin III and Ryan Fitzpatrick are entering free agency.
Regarding Freeman, his prime season from 2012 in Tampa Bay seems to be long-forgotten. After recording 4,065 passing yards and 27 touchdowns that year, Freeman has bounced from team to team and has only participated in nine NFL games since 2013.
It would take a team in desperation mode to give Freeman a chance moving forth this season. At just 28 years old, Freeman sports one of the poorest quarterback resumes as he once again hits free agency.
