Report: Grizzlies Guard Tony Allen Likely to Miss Game 5 Against Warriors

Tony Allen

With the momentum in the series clearly on the Golden State Warriors side entering a crucial Game 5 in Oakland, ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting that Memphis Grizzlies guard Tony Allen is likely to miss the outing.

According to Stein, Allen is suffering through a hamstring issue.

The all-everything defender played just 16 minutes in the Grizzlies Game 4 loss on Monday night. He shot 2-of-9 from the field, scoring four points.

It’s not Allen’s offense that Memphis might miss in this one. He’s been in complete lock down mode against Warriors guard Klay Thompson throughout the series. If Allen is unable to go, that means the combination of Courtney Lee and Vince Carter would likely go up against Thompson. That’s a less-than-ideal scenario for the club.

With the series tied at two and two of the final three games in Oakland, this is almost a must-win for the Grizzlies.
