Report: Former NBA star Steve Francis pleads guilty to DWI charge

Steve Francis

Former NBA superstar Steve Francis entered a plea of guilty to a DWI charge on Tuesday stemming from an arrest made last November, TMZ Sports reports.

“Francis appeared in a Houston courtroom Tuesday and pled guilty to the misdemeanor DWI charge. In exchange, he got 3 days in jail — but the judge gave him credit for time served so he won’t go back.”

The report also states Francis has his license suspended for a year and was fined $1,000.

Francis, who became one of the NBA’s most exciting players during his early years with the Houston Rockets, has been out of the NBA since January of 2009 when he was waived by the Memphis Grizzlies. During his NBA career, Francis averaged 18.1 points, six assists and 5.6 rebounds per game over the course of nine seasons.

Most recently, Francis has played professional basketball in China.
