Tragedy struck the NFL family on Wednesday. Michael Winchester, 52, who is the father of Kansas City Chiefs long snapper James Winchester, was killed in a shooting at Oklahoma City’s Will Rogers Airport.
The news was reported by ESPN’s Adam Teicher and confirmed by Winchester’s agent, Ken Sarnoff.
I'm devastated to confirm for news outlets that my client @J_Winchester41 lost his father today to tragic & senseless gun violence at OKC.

Per Teicher, the elder Winchester was an employee of Southwest Airlines. He also had a football past as the punter on Oklahoma’s 1984 and 1985 teams.
The younger Winchester also attended Oklahoma. He joined the Chiefs in 2015 and hasn’t missed a game since.
