Report: Eagles offer first-round pick to Cardinals for Patrick Peterson

Coming off a six-game ban for PED use, it’s highly unlikely that Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson will be available ahead of next week’s NFL trade deadline.

That has not stopped the Philadelphia Eagles from inquiring. According to Ben Natan of Bleeding Green Nation, Philadelphia has offered up a first-round pick and wide receiver Nelson Agholor to the Cardinals for the 29-year-old Peterson.

It’s not a surprise that Agholor’s name has been bandied about on the trade market. The former first-round pick is slated to become a free agent after the 2019 season and has not lived up to expectations.

Even then, it’s an area the Cardinals could use more talent at with Kyler Murray under center.

Interestingly, the report also notes that Philadelphia offered up a first and second-round pick to the Jaguars before they moved Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams.

It’s rather obvious that the team is looking for an upgrade in the secondary. We covered that possibility in a recent article.

Philadelphia heads into Sunday night’s contest with the Dallas Cowboys at 3-3 on the season and boasting the NFL’s 29th-ranked pass defense.
