Report: Dodgers’ Rich Hill suffers MCL injury in return to action

Los Angeles Dodgers P Rich Hill has been placed on the DL

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Rich Hill lasted less than an inning in his return to action against the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday.

Hill had been sidelined for nearly three months with a forearm strain. Unfortunately for the Dodgers, it now appears that he’s going to the injured list again.

Following Los Angeles 4-2 win, it was reported that the veteran suffered a strained MCL in his left knee. It’s the same injury Hill dealt with during spring training.

Hill was slated to go just a couple innings in what was expected to be a bullpen game in the first place. Even then, this likely means he’ll miss at least the remainder of the regular season. In all likelihood, this sidelines Hill for the playoffs, too.

The 39-year-old starter was pitching to a 4-1 record with a 2.55 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 10 starts heading into Thursday’s action. He had posted a combined 23-13 record with a 3.49 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in his first two full seasons with the Dodgers.
