Darren Collison was arrested on May 30 for domestic violence, but new information about the incident has emerged that paints him in an even more disturbing light.
According to court documents acquired by TMZ, “deputies found that the woman had visible injuries and they arrested Darren Collison, 29, on a charge of domestic violence.”
On top of that, Collison is reported to have spit on his wife in a “separate but related incident” on the same night.
Collison is being charged with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor corporate injury to a spouse. If convicted, he faces up to a year in jail, per the report.
At this point, the Sacramento Kings have yet to take action against Collison, who is still signed on for one more year. This is not abnormal, as professional teams often take a wait-and-see approach to these cases in order to let the law and order side of things play out.
However, perhaps in light of these details it would be smart to go ahead and cut ties with Collison, who should probably get some help with his anger issues as a starting point going forward. There were reports before his arrest that the New York Knicks might be interested in landing him on a trade, but that ship has almost certainly long since sailed.
