Lucky Whitehead has reportedly been informed he’ll be released by the Dallas Cowboys, which head coach Jason Garrett had threatened could occur.
And.. the #Cowboys informed Lucky Whitehead they cut him. Wow.

It’s been a crazy day for the receiver, who reportedly had an arrest warrant taken out after he failed to show up for court following an arrest for shoplifting in Virginia.
However, there’s an interesting twist to all of this, which is that flight records, and Whitehead’s lawyer, have made it clear he had not even arrived in Virginia on the date of his supposed arrest until after the crime had been committed.
The alleged theft occurred per police on 6/22 at 1:30 am. But #Cowboys WR Lucky Whitehead’s only flew to Dulles at 7:20 am 6 hours LATER.

One reason #Cowboys, Whitehead, his agent, no one knew of the arrest — Whitehead claims it wasn’t him. I’ve seen the flight records to show

.@ninjafast22 of #Cowboys STRONGLY insists to me his innocence. 'I don't know who got arrested in Va. but it wasn't me. I NEVER once had 1/3

No doubt, the NFLPA will look to get involved in this matter, which is turning into quite the roller coaster ride for Whitehead.
Last year, he was utilized almost exclusively as a return man, racking up 719 yards in punt and kickoff returns.
