The Cleveland Browns will now have a reliable backup for Baker Mayfield after agreeing with Case Keenum on a three-year, $18 million contract in free agency.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news Monday, noting Keenum will get $10 million guaranteed.
Cleveland now has some insurance in case Mayfield gets injured, or ends up continuing to struggle this year after a frustrating 2019 season.
Keenum was with Washington the past season and ended up starting eight games (going 1-7) before Dwayne Haskins took over. He completed 64.8% of his passes for 1,707 yards with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
In other news, it’s good to be a backup quarterback these days.
