Su’a Cravens stepped away from the NFL in 2017, but his return to the gridiron will be with a new team, the Denver Broncos.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Denver has acquired Cravens from Washington. The teams swapped fourth- and fifth-round picks in the 2018 draft, and Denver also sent an additional fifth-round choice.
As a rookie, the defensive back collected 34 tackles, five pass defenses and one interception. Cravens seemed to position himself for a long career on the Washington defense.
Shortly before the 2017 season, Cravens had told his now-former team he planned to retire. Washington talked him out of that decision, though he never appeared in a game. Cravens was placed on the non-football exempt list at the time.
Perhaps the new football home in Denver will allow the USC product to regain his confidence following a knee surgery and rekindle his love of playing the sport.
