Report: Arkansas’ Eric Musselman to interview for USC job

Arkansas Razorbacks head coach Eric Musselman works the referees against South Carolina during their second round game of the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., Thursday, March 14, 2024.

Southern California will interview current Arkansas coach Eric Musselman for its head-coaching vacancy, On3 reported Tuesday.

USC’s opening was created when Andy Enfield left the school to take the same job at SMU.

Musselman, 59, took over at Arkansas in 2019 and guided the Razorbacks to three straight NCAA Tournaments from 2021-23. They went to two straight Elite Eights followed by a Sweet 16 before going 16-17 (6-12 SEC) in 2023-24.

Musselman spent much of his coaching career on the West Coast, including head-coaching roles with the NBA’s Golden State Warriors (2002-04) and Sacramento Kings (2006-07). He entered the college ranks in 2012 as an assistant at Arizona State, and, as head coach of Nevada, he took the Wolf Pack to three NCAA Tournaments in four years, including a Sweet 16.

Musselman is 221-93 as a college head coach over nine seasons between Nevada and Arkansas. His contract buyout is $1 million.

USC is moving to the Big Ten later this year and recently lost a commitment from McDonald’s All-American Trent Perry in the wake of Enfield’s departure.
