Allen Iverson was nowhere to be found Sunday night in Dallas when his 3’s Company team was playing its Week 6 BIG3 game. The burgeoning 3-on-3 league issued a statement in which it said it was investigating Iverson’s absence, which was unexplained and unexpected (more on that here).
Perhaps TMZ Sports can shed some light into this for the BIG3. According to their sources, Iverson was “first spotted at the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, IL on Saturday night into early Sunday morning. One witness says AI was still in the building at 3 AM.”
“Hours later, Iverson surfaced at the Sugar Factory restaurant (around 10 PM on Sunday — wearing the same clothes he’d been wearing at the casino in the days before. Fans who recognized him asked for photos, but he refused.”
That’s not a good look. Not for Iverson, and certainly not for the BIG3. The Answer is a player/coach and team captain for the 3’s Company squad. And he’s already been in the news for the wrong reasons once this season when he didn’t play during his team’s game in Philadelphia, upsetting local fans who adore him.
At this point, provided the report is verified by the BIG3 and/or Iverson admits he was gambling instead of living up to his commitment, disciplinary action is required. At the least.
