Report: Alfred Morris signing with Cowboys

Running back Alfred Morris will reportedly be joining the Dallas Cowboys, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schefter reports it’s a two-year deal for Morris.

As a member of the Washington Redskin, Morris quickly burst onto the scene as one of the most productive running backs in the NFL during his rookie season.

He piled up 1,613 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground in 2012, the same year in which Robert Griffin III dominated opposing teams with his dual-threat abilities.

Over the next three seasons, however, Morris’ numbers fell each year. He finished last year’s campaign with 751 rushing yards (3.7 yards per carry) and one rushing score as the Redskins relied on rookie Matt Jones more and more.

It would be foolish to write off the drop-off in production as a sign of things to come, though.

Morris now joins an offense that features one of the best run-blocking offensive lines in all of football. His downhill style of running should suite offensive coordinator Scott Linehan’s scheme to perfection, and nobody should be surprised if Morris is once again one of the top backs in the league once again playing for the ‘Boys in 2016.
