The Boston Red Sox won their arbitration case against pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez, who will make $8.3 million in 2020, rather than the nearly $9 million he requested.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic first reported on this breaking news Thursday afternoon.
Rodriguez, 26, is coming off a very solid two-year stretch in which he’s gone 32-11 while becoming increasingly valuable to the Red Sox organization in light of the team’s other pitching struggles. Last season, his 19 wins led the team, as did his 203.1 innings pitched.
Needless to say, it seems like the Red Sox are getting quite a bargain with the up-and-coming pitcher right now in light of the exorbitant salaries being doled out to other teams’ aces.
