Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow is expected to miss the start of the season with an oblique injury.
Glasnow, 29, reportedly sustained the injury during a live batting practice session Monday at spring training.
Manager Kevin Cash told reporters Tuesday that the injury “bothers him to sneeze, cough.”
“I would book that right now,” Cash told the Tampa Bay Times when asked if Glasnow would miss the start of the regular season on March 30.
After undergoing Tommy John surgery in August 2021, Glasnow posted a 1.35 ERA with no decisions in two starts last season.
Glasnow is 20-20 with a 4.00 ERA in 106 career games (67 starts) with the Pittsburgh Pirates (2016-18) and Rays.
