Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby will miss at least two more weeks with a fractured right ring finger, coach Nick Nurse said Thursday.
The 2017 first-round draft pick last played Feb. 16, right before the All-Star break, and has missed Toronto’s first four games since.
By resting Anunoby now, the Raptors believe he will avoid surgery. He will be re-evaluated after the two weeks off. Nurse previously said previously that a hand specialist said Anunoby’s finger was nearly healed.
Anunoby is in his fifth NBA season, all with the Raptors. He’s averaging 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game; the points and assists totals are NBA single-season career highs, and the rebounds match the career best he set last season.
Toronto (34-27) entered Thursday in seventh place in the Eastern Conference after sweeping the eighth-place Brooklyn Nets in a home-and-home series earlier this week.
