Colorado Rapids defender Daniel Chacon had successful surgery on his right knee to repair an anterior cruciate ligament tear, the club announced Thursday.
Injured while on loan with Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, Chacon will conduct his rehab — expected to last nine months — with Alajuelense in Costa Rica.
Chacon, 22, was loaned to Alajuelense in July after becoming the first Colorado Rapids 2 player to sign a first-team contract with the club.
Chacon first joined Rapids 2 in June 2022 from Costa Rican club C.S. Cartagines before rejoining Cartagines to prepare for last year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
