Overnight co-leader Rafael Campos of Puerto Rico made a clutch birdie at 18 to grab a share of the third-round lead with Joel Dahmen on Saturday at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship in the Dominican Republic.
Campos finished with a 3-under 69 to stand at 10-under 206 with Dahmen, who started Saturday one shot back. Dahmen rebounded from two bogeys over his first eight holes to shoot 4-under 68.
Dahmen, who came into the event off six missed cuts in his last seven starts, made five birdies over his final 10 holes to put himself in position for his first title in his 111th start on the PGA Tour.
The field does not include the top players in the world, who were competing at the World Golf Championships match-play event in Austin, Texas.
Canada’s Michael Gligic posted a bogey-free 68 on Saturday that featured three birdies on the front and one more on the back. He stands tied for third place at 9 under with England’s Danny Willett (67).
Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo posted the low round of the day, carding nine birdies and two bogeys for a 7-under 65. The round catapulted him into a tie for fifth place with Belgian Thomas Pieters (69) at 8 under.
Rounding out the top 10 in a tie for seventh place at 7 under are defending champion Hudson Swafford (68), Charley Hoffman (68), Austria’s Sepp Straka (69), Roberto Castro (70), 2019 champion Graeme McDowell (70) of Northern Ireland and Paraguay’s Fabrizio Zanotti (72).
