The Nashville Predators signed center Tommy Novak to a three-year, $10.5 million contract on Monday.
Novak, 26, has recorded 34 points (13 goals, 21 assists) through 51 games this season.
Without a new deal, he would have become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
“It’s definitely something you think about,” Novak said. “Just to have that security and to be here for the next three years, I can just focus on playing hockey now. Not that I wasn’t before, but it just gives you peace of mind for sure.”
A third-round pick by Nashville in 2015, Novak has 84 points (31 goals, 53 assists) in 129 games since making his NHL debut in 2021-22.
The Predators (35-25-2) have an eight-game winning streak heading into Tuesday’s home game against the Montreal Canadiens.
