While the Pittsburgh Steelers await word from Aaron Rodgers about his future plans, a four-time All-Pro is getting annoyed.
The New York Jets released Rodgers after two chaotic seasons where head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas lost their jobs after hitching their wagon to the 41-year-old quarterback.
Coming back from Achilles surgery that cost him all but four plays of the 2023 regular season, Rodgers led the Jets to a dismal 5-12 record in 2024. He put up impressive numbers—nearly 4,000 yards passing and 28 touchdowns—but he threw the second-most pass attempts in the league and played from behind in nearly every game. He also wasn’t as mobile as he once was and was sacked 40 times.
Like the Jets before them, the Steelers seem to believe that Rodgers can steer their ship in 2025, as they are letting 2024 starter Russell Wilson dangle in free agency. Pittsburgh’s other starting QB last year, Justin Fields, has already left for the Jets on a two-year deal.
As Rodgers continues to ponder his decision, a seven-time Pro Bowler is tired of the waiting game.
Pittsburgh Steelers’ Cam Heyward has tough words for Aaron Rodgers

On his “Not Just Football” podcast, defensive tackle Cam Heyward said he would not go on a darkness retreat with the four-time NFL MVP to recruit him to the Steelers.
“I ain’t doing that darkness retreat. I don’t need any of that crap. Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t. It’s that simple. That’s the pitch,” Heyward said. “Like, if you want me to recruit, that’s the recruiting pitch. Pittsburgh Steelers. If you want to be part of it, so be it. If you don’t, no skin off my back.”

Heyward is ready for a decision to finally be made.
“I want to play football. I’m tired of talking about the quarterback situation,” Heyward said. “I’d rather have it done.”
According to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor, this stance is a far cry from when Heyward recruited Wilson to the Steelers last year, when he FaceTimed with the 10-time Pro Bowl QB for an hour.
Meanwhile, the Steelers have brought back former quarterback Mason Rudolph following his one-year stint with the Tennessee Titans.
It’s not known when Rodgers will finally make his decision.
