Pirates reportedly still willing to trade Andrew McCutchen and Josh Harrison

As the Pittsburgh Pirates prepare for spring training, there’s one major off-season question that’s gone unanswered. What is going to happen with former NL MVP Andrew McCutchen, who was seemingly on the trade block during the winter?

In focusing on what we need to know about their exhibition slate coming up here soon, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Pirates general manager Neal Huntington is still willing to move McCutchen and infielder Josh Harrison.

“General manager Neal Huntington mulled trade offers for Andrew McCutchen and Josh Harrison (and Huntington remains willing to deal either player),” Biertempfel reports.

This isn’t a huge surprise. McCutchen is coming off a down season for Pittsburgh. But at just 30 years old, he seems to be hitting his prime. The former MVP posted a .256 average with 24 homers and 79 RBI this past season.

On the other hand, Harrison put up a solid 2016 campaign, hitting .283 with four homers, 59 RBI and 19 stolen bases.

Should Pittsburgh decide to move either player, it will likely get a nice haul in return. Our money is still on both McCutchen and Harrison being on the opening-day roster.
