The Philadelphia Phillies are going to be down another outfielder for at least the next 10 days.
According to multiple media reports, Philadelphia has placed three-time All-Star Jay Bruce on the injured list with a right oblique strain.
This could not come at a worst time for the struggling Phillies. Bruce, 32, has hit 10 homers and 29 RBI in a mere 33 games since being acquired from the Seattle Mariners earlier in the season.
His acquisition came immediately before Opening Day starter Andrew McCutchen suffered a season-ending torn ACL.
Philadelphia enters Wednesday’s action with a 49-46 record and in third place in the NL East. It has lost seven of 11.
