Andy Ogletree signed with HyFlyers GC, Phil Mickelson’s LIV Golf team, on Monday.
Ogletree replaces James Piot and rounds out a team that features Mickelson, Brendan Steele and Cameron Tringale.
Piot was relegated after a poor season that saw him finish 47th in the individual standings.
Ogletree, meanwhile, was among the players who competed at LIV’s inaugural event outside London in June 2022. He finished last in that event and was dropped by the league as it continued to add players.
Ogletree, 25, turned to Asia and won the Asian Tour’s International Series Order of Merit. He also made starts as a reserve for LIV and earned enough points to move into the “Open Zone” of the standings, allowing him to negotiate for a full-time roster spot.
“Andy is one of the most impressive young players in the game who has earned his spot on LIV,” Mickelson said in a statement. “The work he has continued to put in and the resiliency he showed this past year in creating his own success was awesome to see. He makes the HyFlyers a contender next year and just as importantly, Andy fits in perfectly with everyone on the team.”
Ogletree won the 2019 U.S. Amateur.
