Up until now, the New England Patriots have been pretty quiet about impending free agent running back Dion Lewis. Many speculated that the Patriots would let him test free agency.
But, this tidbit of Friday news suggests that the Patriots may want to re-sign Lewis.
The Patriots have expressed interest in re-signing Dion Lewis, but most of the league is interested, too, according to a source. Pats will have to make a strong offer to keep him. Lewis might get offers as high as 3 years, $18 million.

Though the Pats may need to take a number in line, because many other NFL teams would love to steal the Bill Belichick-coached running back. Lewis exploded onto the scene in 2017, tallying 1,110 total yards and nine touchdowns. He played in all 16 games — starting in eight — as he began to pick up the pace towards the mid-part of the season.
For his recent success, Lewis will be a hot commodity in free agency. That could drive up his price to that speculated $6 million per year.
Lewis is only 27 and when healthy is a force. He proved this by rushing at a pace of 5.0 yards per carry in 2017. With the running back Rex Burkhead also slated for free agency, the Patriots may want to find a way to keep Lewis to themselves.
