
Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes III broke an FBS record by totaling 819 yards Saturday night against Oklahoma.
The junior gunslinger tied an FBS record by passing for 734 yards and rushed for another 85 yards with seven total touchdowns — five passing and two rushing.

The craziest thing about this performance is that it came in a losing cause.
As high-powered as Texas Tech’s offense is, its defense is known for being just plain old bad. That most certainly was the case Saturday night in Lubbock, as the Red Raiders allowed Oklahoma’s offense, led by Baker Mayfield, to rack up just as many total yards (854).
Mayfield was just as impressive on an individual level, racking up 564 yards and seven passing touchdowns.
The final score in this one was 66-59 — a true offensive showdown.
