Pat Mahomes, former MLB pitcher and father of Texas Tech star Patrick Mahomes II, was arrested Saturday night while watching his son play.
According to Ryan Osborne of the Star-Telegram, Mahomes was arrested late in the double-overtime Texas Tech game against TCU for public intoxication.
“An off-duty Fort Worth police officer who was working at the game made the arrest, said Officer Tamara Valle, a Fort Worth police spokesperson.”
Because TCU handled the incident, Valle could not comment further about Mahomes’ arrest.
Mahomes II had a relatively quiet game, by his standards, in the win. He finished with just 206 yards, two touchdowns and an interception on 24-of-39 passing while adding another 39 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
His father pitched in the big leagues for 11 seasons, retiring in 2003. It’s a shame he wasn’t able to stay for the finish of Saturday night’s double-overtime win, during which Mahomes II played extremely well in the 27-24 win.
