The Florida Panthers traded forward Anthony Duclair to the San Jose Sharks on Saturday for forward Steven Lorentz and a fifth-round draft choice in 2025.

Duclair is entering the final season of a three-year, $9 million deal. He played in just 20 games last season after recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.

In the 2021-22 season, Duclair established career highs for goals (31), assists (27) and points (58). He had just two goals and nine points last season.

“Anthony will bring speed and tenacity to our lineup on a nightly basis,” Sharks general manager Mike Grier said in a news release. “He has a well-rounded game along with the ability to score, and we are excited to have him join our organization.”

Duclair, 27, has 122 goals and 261 points in 490 games with six teams over nine seasons. He had 43 goals in 137 games for the Panthers.

Meanwhile, the Panthers obtained Lorentz in the deal. The 27-year-old had career highs of 10 goals and 19 points in 80 games for the Sharks last season. He spent his previous two NHL seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes.

“We’re excited to welcome Steven to the Panthers,” Florida general manager Bill Zito said in a news release. “This move gives us long-term flexibility for our club, while also addressing needs of size, speed and depth for our forward group.”
