High-scoring Oral Roberts guard Max Abmas has declared for the 2021 NBA draft.

The 6-foot-1 sophomore announced his decision Sunday on Twitter. He has not hired an agent in order to maintain his eligibility to return to the Golden Eagles.

Abmas led the nation with 24.6 points per game to go with 3.8 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 28 games (all starts) in 2020-21. He was named the Summit League Player of the Year.

He guided 15th-seeded Oral Roberts to the Sweet 16, scoring 29 points in a first-round upset of No. 2 seed Ohio State and 26 in a win against No. 7 Florida in the second round. He scored 25 in the season-ending loss to Arkansas.

Abmas made 101 3-pointers while shooting 43.3 percent from behind the arc last season.

“… Since I was a kid my dream has always been to play at the highest level,” he wrote, in part. “After much consideration, I will be entering the 2021 NBA Draft and maintaining my college eligibility.”

He has until July 19 to withdraw from the NBA draft, which will take place on July 29.
