Aaron Rodgers is taking his time deciding whether he’ll play football in 2025.
The future Hall of Fame quarterback reportedly has offers from the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants after the New York Jets released him following two tumultuous seasons. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports the Minnesota Vikings will not sign Rodgers right now but will keep him “on their radar.”
Rodgers returned in 2024 after tearing his Achilles just four plays into the 2023 regular season, but endured a nightmarish campaign. The Jets finished 5-12 and fired both head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas mid-season. Owner Woody Johnson reportedly even wanted Rodgers benched at one point.
Rodgers accumulated nearly 4,000 passing yards and 28 touchdowns — which look good on the surface — but he also threw the second-most pass attempts in the NFL and played from behind in nearly every game. The 41-year-old showed diminished mobility, absorbed 40 sacks, and posted a career-low 6.7 yards gained per pass attempt since becoming a starter.
With Rodgers’ options seemingly down to two teams — or retirement — a prominent NFL insider has offered a surprising prediction about where he’ll land in 2025.
NFL insider gives bold take where Aaron Rodgers will play in 2025

During an interview Thursday on “The Dan Patrick Show,” Dianna Russini made a bold projection about Rodgers’ future.
“This is a guess. I think Aaron Rodgers is going to be a Minnesota Viking,” Russini said.

It’s an unexpected take considering the Vikings’ apparent lack of current interest in Rodgers, but Russini’s insider knowledge suggests something might be developing behind the scenes.
“The Vikings considered signing Rodgers, but decided against making the move for now. Though, according to league sources, they are neither in nor out on the 41-year-old quarterback,” Russini previously reported for The Athletic.
J.J. McCarthy, Minnesota’s 2024 first-round pick, missed his entire rookie season after suffering a torn meniscus in his right knee. His absence created an opportunity for Sam Darnold to resurrect his career under head coach Kevin O’Connell’s offense, leading to Darnold’s three-year, $100.5 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks.
If the Vikings bring Rodgers in, it would delay McCarthy’s development another year and potentially create questions within the young quarterback’s camp about the franchise’s confidence in him.
Rodgers has not indicated when he’ll make a decision about his future.
