Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins received his first NFL fine for wearing cleats that were not a solid base color.
The fine was for $6,076 (the league minimum) for Hopkins sporting Yeezy cleats designed by Kanye West.
When asked if he would wear the cleats again, Hopkins had this response.
“Only if Kanye wants to pay the fine, per Kristie Rieken of Pro 32.”
The cleats are part of a product line by Adidas. Hopkins signed a multi-year deal with the company during the offseason. Hopkins’ popular Yeezy cleats he wore in Sunday’s win over the Chicago Bears were dove gray and black and patterned.
Even though we likely won’t see Hopkins sporting the cleats again, it would appear he already made an impression on the general public. Per the report, Adidas put the cleats up for sale on their website on Thursday. They have since sold out.
Perhaps Adidas will get word of this story and reimburse Hopkins for his efforts in selling the cleats right off shelf.
