The New York Yankees have acquired starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy from the Arizona Diamondbacks for fellow starter Vidal Nuno. The Yankees will also send cash to Arizona in this deal.

After finishing second in the Jeff Samardzija/Jason Hammel sweepstakes, the Yankees decided that adding the veteran McCarthy was the best way to go. The 30-year-old McCarthy is 3-10 with a 5.01 ERA on the season. His best year came back in 2012 when the righty put up an 8-6 record with a 3.24 ERA in Oakland.
Nuno, who is four years younger than McCarthy and under team control team control for a few more seasons, is 2-5 with a 5.42 ERA on the season. He will make his first Diamondbacks start on Tuesday.
