New Mexico State and Minnesota are ready to square off Thursday night in Minneapolis, but the visitors are dealing with a jersey issue.
According to Minnesota, the Aggies have not yet received their road uniforms for the fall. As a result, the Golden Gophers will be rocking all-white gear at home instead of their traditional dark jerseys.
The Big Ten has approved the one-time change.
You’d think equipment issues of this magnitude would be avoided at a top-division program — especially since New Mexico State has already played a home game this season — but mistakes happen.
On the bright side for Minnesota players, it’s a chance to break out the brand new Nike uniforms earlier than expected. The Gophers don’t have a road game until Sep. 22 against Big Ten foe Maryland.
