A member of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series pit crew was hit by a vehicle during Saturday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway.
The incident occurred when Zane Smith, who was driving the No. 38 Love’s truck, spun out of control while steering toward the pits.
Thankfully, the crew member, a man named Charles Plank, appears to be okay, as he was able to somehow maintain his balance after being struck by the spinning truck.
Credit to Plank for keeping his head on a swivel and being ready to react in a flash. Who knows, it may have saved him from suffering a much more serious injury.
Meanwhile, Plank says he “thought he could clear it,” when asked about the incident later on. We’re just amazed he’s still working. As Plank mentioned, at least he was able to jump high enough to make it on the deck lid, instead of something worse.
