The Los Angeles Lakers and star big man Anthony Davis had to be concerned. Davis was seen down on the hardwood in pain during Tuesday night’s game against the New York Knicks after landing hard on his lower back.
The likely NBA Defensive Player of the Year was later seen leaving the Staples Center on a bed, leading to speculation that this injury might be serious.
Everyone in Los Angeles can now exhale. MRI results on Davis’ lower back earlier Wednesday morning came back clean. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, he’ll make the Lakers’ upcoming two-game road trip.
This has to be seen as some tremendous news for Davis and his Lakers. Given how the injury looked Tuesday night, it’s also a rather shocking development.
Davis has been absolutely tremendous in his first season with the Lakers. He’s averaging 27.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.6 blocks per game.
Now that Davis might not miss any time, Los Angeles can continue with its domination of the Western Conference. It currently sits at 30-7 on the season.
