Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich is in the midst of potentially earning his second consecutive NL MVP award. What the outfielder has done thus far this season is simply amazing.
But in a cruel twist of fate, Yelich suffered a fractured right knee cap in Tuesday’s game against the Miami Marlins. The team announced immediately after the game that he’s lost for the season.
This is news no one around the Major League Baseball world wanted to hear. Yelich has been the definition of a true star in his two seasons with the Brewers.
He entered Tuesday’s action hitting .330 with 44 homers and 97 RBI while leading the National League in on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS.
No matter who you root for, this is just a brutal injury. The Major League Baseball world reacted in kind.
We wish Yelich the best as he recovers from such a serious injury. It’s something you just don’t ever want to see.
