The slumping Milwaukee Brewers activated second baseman Kolten Wong from the injured list Friday after he missed 13 games due to a left oblique strain.
Wong, who was placed on IL after getting injured on June 3, was in the starting lineup for Friday night’s road game against the Colorado Rockies, batting in the leadoff spot for the Brewers. Milwaukee entered the night on a four-game losing streak.
It marked the second time this season Wong landed on the IL due to a left oblique injury. He also missed 11 games in April due to the ailment.
Wong, 30, was second on the Brewers with a .280 batting average, and he had four homers and 15 RBIs in 44 games before his latest IL stint. He is in his first season with the Brewers after spending eight campaigns with the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Brewers also selected the contract of right-hander Zack Godley from Triple-A Nashville while also optioning infielder/outfielder Pablo Reyes and righty Eric Yardley to Nashville.
In addition, the team designated infielder Jake Hager for assignment.
Godley, 31, has spent most of this season at Triple-A, where he was 3-2 with a 2.40 ERA in six outings (five starts). The seven-year veteran has pitched in one game with the Brewers in 2021, when he suffered the loss against the Miami Marlins on April 28 after allowing four runs (three earned) and only one hit in three innings. He struck out five and walked five.
Reyes, 27, hit .229 with one RBI in 48 at-bats this season for Milwaukee.
Yardley, 30, posted a 6.75 ERA without a decision in 17 relief outings for the Brewers in 2021.
