Los Angeles Angels superstar center fielder Mike Trout blasted off on Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred over social media for the ongoing lockout.
“I want to play, I love our game, but I want to get this CBA right,” Trout wrote in a graphic Wednesday on Twitter. “Instead of bargaining in good faith – MLB locked us out. Instead of negotiating a fair deal – Rob canceled games. Players stand together. For our game, for our fans, and for every player who comes after us. We owe it to the next generation.”

Trout’s post came one day after Manfred announced that the first two series of the regular season were canceled after the league and the MLB Players Association failed to strike a collective bargaining agreement before Tuesday’s league-imposed 5 p.m. ET deadline.
The union unanimously rejected what MLB deemed its “best offer” for the sides to salvage a March 31 Opening Day.
A three-time American League Most Valuable Player and nine-time All-Star, Trout played in just 36 games in 2021 before a calf injury ended his season.
Trout, 30, is batting .305 with 310 homers and 816 RBIs in 1,288 career games with the Angels. He won AL MVP honors in 2014, 2016 and 2019.
