Before Ayesha Curry blew up the social media world by sending out reactionary tweets during the meltdown we saw from Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors in the Finals, there was another wife making waves.
Unlike the better half of the Curry clan, the wife of former Miami Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes had in the past been blamed for the issues her husband had in his career.
Following the Dolphins’ decision to release Grimes, owner Stephen Ross noted that his wife, Miko, was the reason for cutting the former Pro Bowler (more on that here).
Taking an issue with Ross’ specific stance, Miko had this to say on ESPN Radio recently.
“It had nothing to do with me. It had everything to do with my husband wanting to leave the Miami Dolphins and them not wanting him to leave,” she said, (h/t JoeBucsFan.com). “You guys don’t know that, though. You’re listening to what (Dolphins owner Stephen Ross) is saying. That’s why I was able to say whatever I wanted to say because my husband wanted to leave.”
It could very well be that Grimes himself wanted to leave the Dolphins. Though, we can pretty much conclude that his wife sure did play a role in the team’s decision to release him. After all, he was Miami’s top corner the past three seasons, earning a spot in the Pro Bowl each year.
Now a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Grimes better hope that his wife stops making news for all the wrong reasons. No matter what she says, it really has impacted his ability to succeed on the field.
